Russia has strengthened its credibility on the world stage, thanks to a successful operation in Syria. This opinion was voiced by the outgoing foreign Minister of Germany Frank-Walter Steinmeier, his words leads RIA Novosti.
“Large-scale operation in Syria, of course, was initiated in order to challenge provoking the US position, which took Russia to the regional forces. At least from the Russian point of view they do seem to succeed, Russia is perceived as a major military and political player,” – said Steinmeier.
The Minister also noted that to gain influence, Russia needs to add the political partners to the restored military power. Earlier it became known that Frank-Walter Steinmeier has decided to leave the post of head of the German foreign Ministry to nominate his candidacy for President of Germany.
