The Kremlin praised the outcome of talks on Syria in Astana

Moscow hopes that the results of negotiations in Astana will help to resume cooperation in the framework of the Geneva process. This was stated by the official Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov on Wednesday, 25 January, reports the correspondent of”.ru”.

“Of course, it is a success. Provided essential support to the Geneva process. You know that the main channel for the search of the Syrian settlement is the Geneva process,” — said the press Secretary of the Russian President, Recalling that in its framework there was a hitch.

Answering the question about the possibility of holding new meetings in the capital of Kazakhstan, Peskov said that it depends on expediency and the situation.

Talks in Astana on 23-24 January. As a result of meetings between Russia, Iran and Turkey agreed to establish a tripartite mechanism for monitoring observance of the truce in Syria. In addition, the Russian delegation handed over to representatives of the armed opposition of Syria, a draft Constitution for the Republic.
