In the Kremlin commented on the decriminalization of domestic violence

Press Secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov commented on the adoption by the state Duma in the second reading of the bill on the decriminalization of family violence, the correspondent “reports Tapes.ru”.

According to Peskov, it is inappropriate “to identify family violence as some minor manifestations, something of an overblown”. However, he called to distinguish between “family relationships and relapse”, noting that in case of repetition of the beating of criminal liability.

Thus, according to the press Secretary of the head of state, the creation of strong families in Russia is a priority.

Earlier on 25 January, the draft law on decriminalization of battery against family members was adopted by the state Duma in the second reading. Domestic battery committed for the first time, are translated from the category of criminal offences to administrative offences. For the repeated Commission of the crimes citizens will be prosecuted on criminal charges. Beatings are acts that cause physical pain but not leading to short-term health and disability.

The document is aimed at eliminating ambiguous interpretation of the provisions of the Criminal code.
