Putin gave a map Tartary first President of Tatarstan

The first President of Tatarstan Mintimer Shaimiev received a gift from the Russian leader Vladimir Putin and Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, a map of ancient Tartary. It is reported kp.ru Thursday, January 19.

Rare card, Shaimiev presented on the eve of his 80th birthday, was drafted in the XVII century Dutch cartographer Willem Blaeu.

As notes the edition, he was included in the territory of Tartary, the whole of Siberia, the far East and Central Asia. From the North, according to the beliefs of the cartographer, washed the Tartar ocean, and East China.

“It’s hard to tell who it is in this area lived here a while, but this is our common history”, — said Putin.

The Russian President during the meeting also thanked Shaimiev for the joint work in previous years and his activity as Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Republican Fund of revival of monuments of history and culture of Tatarstan. “This is a very important job. Maybe even one of the most important that we should do,” said the head of state.

Shaimiev President of Tatarstan in 1991. In 2010, he left this position and became the state adviser of the Republic.

The term tartare is used in XVI-XVIII centuries. He meant the Empire of Genghis Khan and its fragments.
