Ruslan Sokolovsky
Blogger Ruslan Sokolovsky, who has been arrested for catching pokemon in the Orthodox Church, was charged under the article on illegal traffic of special equipment for secret obtaining of information. This was his lawyer Alexei Bashmakov told RIA Novosti on Thursday, January 19.
According to the lawyer, the reason for initiation of proceedings under part 1 of article 138 of the criminal code became pen with video camera, discovered during a search in the house of a blogger.
Also Bashmakov said that the Verkh-Isetskiy district court of Ekaterinburg has satisfied the petition of the investigation on the extension Sokolowski period of detention. He will stay in custody until February 22, 2017.
In August 2016 Sokolowski published in the Internet video in which he plays Pokemon GO during the service in the Orthodox Church. The video includes profanity and ridicule of Christianity. It was a criminal case under part 1 article 282 (“inciting hatred or hostility, and humiliation of human dignity”) and part 2 of article 148 of the criminal code (“violation of the right to freedom of conscience and religion”).
First blogger due to the lack of permanent residence and, consequently, the impossibility to send him under house arrest, he was detained. Then he was allowed to serve his house arrest in the apartment of lawyer Stanislav Ilchenko. Later for violating the conditions of isolation he was still sent to jail.
