Obama welcomes talks with Russia on reducing nuclear weapons

Barack Obama welcomes talks with Russia to reduce nuclear weapons, but criticized Moscow for failing to lead them. About the outgoing US President said, speaking at his last press conference in Washington.

 

He recalled the start-3 Treaty signed between Russia and the United States of America during Obama’s first term. The agreement could substantially reduce nuclear arsenals.

 

“I told President Putin that I am ready to move on. They did not want to negotiate,” – said the American leader.

 

“If the President trump will resume these talks in a serious way, I believe we still have a lot of opportunity to reduce nuclear arsenals,” — said Obama.

 

Previously elected President of the United States Donald trump said about the possibility to achieve Russian agreement to reduce nuclear weapons in exchange for sanctions relief.
