Senator from Crimea explained another lawsuit Kiev against Russia by the lack of attention

Sergei Tsekov

Another claim of Ukraine to the international court of justice is one of the ways of the Kiev authorities to remind myself of the international community. This view was expressed by a member of the Federation Council Committee on international Affairs Sergei Tsekov told “Tape.ru”.

“The interest in Ukraine is falling, confidence in the current government falls within the country and outside. All this is done in order to attract attention,” he said.

Tsekov suggested that the court of Kyiv will again try to prove the military intervention of Moscow in the conflict in Eastern Ukraine. He recalled that Moscow has repeatedly stated that no Russian troops on the territory of Donbass not. “The war going on in Eastern Ukraine is a civil war,” said the Senator.

17 January, the international court of justice acknowledged receipt of the claim of Ukraine against Russia. In particular, Kiev accuses Moscow of violating the rights of millions of Ukrainian citizens, the financing of acts of terrorism, and in enhancing the “interference in Ukrainian Affairs”.

Earlier on Tuesday the official representative of Russian foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova said that Moscow intends to use all available remedies in connection with the filing of a new lawsuit in the international court of justice.

In September 2016, Kiev has against Moscow filed a lawsuit in connection with the violation of the Convention on the law of the sea. Russia has accused the oil and gas extraction on the sea shelf of Ukraine and the deterioration of the ecological situation on the Black sea.

Crimea became part of Russia in March 2014 following a referendum. Kiev does not recognize the voting results and calls the Peninsula its occupied territory. Moscow believes the issue of the status of the Peninsula closed.
