Ivanovo girl on the court had received a blood transfusion contrary to the requirement of the father

Leninsky district court of Ivanovo gave permission for a blood transfusion a twelve year old girl contrary to the prohibition of the father of the child. This was reported on the website of the regional Prosecutor’s office.

On 12 January the Ivanovo regional clinical hospital received a patient that was diagnosed with “anemia of uncertain origin”. The doctors decided for urgent transfusion of her blood, but the girl’s father refused this procedure because of religious beliefs. After that, the doctors turned to the Prosecutor.

As told to “the Russian newspaper” senior assistant Prosecutor of the region Valentina Kruchinina, the child was in the hospital in serious condition. “Under the law the Prosecutor may apply to the court in interests of the citizen, when the state of health or age he is not able to do it yourself. If a signal that there is a threat of life, the Prosecutor’s office shall take the necessary measures to ensure the safety of life of the child,” she said.

It is noted that at present, minors receive necessary medical assistance.

The law prohibits doctors to perform medical procedures children, if not obtained voluntary consent of the parents or legal representatives.
