The Deputy proposed to test the effectiveness of alcohol-containing medicines

The effectiveness of alcohol-containing medications must be checked by carrying out post-clinical studies. This opinion was expressed by a member of the Duma Committee on health, Alexander Petrov, RIA Novosti reported on Thursday, January 12.

“We at the next meeting this issue will consider and propose a Ministry of health to work on,” Petrov promised. According to him, about 60 percent of drugs in pharmacies have no “clinical proof”.

In addition to conducting additional studies, a reasonable measure could be the introduction of excise duties on alcohol-containing medicines, the Deputy believes.

In December in Irkutsk from poisoning by bath means “Hawthorn” died 77 people. Forensic examination showed that 74 of them were poisoned with methyl alcohol, the rest suffered from taking significant doses of ethyl alcohol. After the incident in Irkutsk, Russian President Vladimir Putin instructed the government to tighten the rules of production and turnover of alcohol products.
