Russia classifies the incident in Ankara as a terrorist act – foreign Ministry

Russia’s Ambassador in Ankara, Andrey Karlov died in an armed attack. About this informed the official representative of the foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova.


“Today is a tragic day in the history of the Russian Federation. Today in Ankara at a public event was wounded and then died the Ambassador of the Russian Federation Andrey Karlov”, — said the diplomat.


“We qualify the incident as a terrorist act. Are in touch with Turkish officials, from whom he received assurances that there will be a thorough comprehensive investigation. The killer will be punished. Terrorism will not pass. We are resolved to fight it”, — said the representative of the Russian foreign Ministry.


Earlier, Turkish media reported the death of the Russian Ambassador in Ankara.


An armed attack on diplomats have occurred during his speech at the opening of the exhibition. Unknown shot at the Ambassador and fled the scene. Soon, the police managed to eliminate it.
