Putin and Abe agreed on joint use of the Kuril Islands

The President of Russia Vladimir Putin and Prime Minister of Japan Shinzo Abe agreed on joint use of the Kuril Islands. This was told to journalists by the Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov.


 


How said Ushakov, the head of the countries agreed on joint economic activities. “We spent 40 minutes to agree on the final text,” he said.


 


“We are talking about that (Putin and Abe) instructing the experts of the two countries to start detailed consultations on the harmonization of terms, forms and areas of joint economic activities on the said the South Kuril Islands,” – said Ushakov.


 


The official text of the statement agreed on Putin and Abe will be published on Friday, December 16.
