European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker speaks out against new anti-Russian sanctions. The politician opposes the statements of some of his colleagues insist that to change the situation in Syria can only the pressure on Moscow.
Jean-Claude Juncker said in an interview with German TV channel ZDF, that such statements are ill-considered, and the introduction of restrictions against Russia will not help in resolving the middle East conflict.
“Anyone who thinks that the introduction of additional sanctions will help to resolve the Syrian drama, takes a special form of naivety. This does not give Russia any impression… I don’t want to say that diplomacy is a toothless tiger. It’s a beast that bites is not always where it is needed”, – said Juncker.
While at the official level the issue of additional sanctions is not discussed. As previously said the head of European diplomacy Federica Mogherini, has not yet offered any one country.
