Gas prices should decouple from oil prices to provide transparency and stability of its value. Such opinion on Thursday expressed Minister of economy, trade and industry of Japan, Hiroshige Seko, speaking at the international conference of producers and consumers of liquefied natural gas (LNG), opened in Tokyo.

“It is important to develop criteria for the price of LNG, which would correctly reflect the supply and demand of LNG, not depending on oil prices, to ensure the transparency and stability of value,” – said Seko, stressing that gas prices should be consolidated in a single price index. The head of the Japanese economic Minister also noted that the transaction for LNG it is necessary to make it easier. “We need to create conditions under which more participants will be able to trade LNG more flexible,” he explained.

In Tokyo on Thursday opened the fifth international conference of producers and consumers of liquefied natural gas. It involved members of governments and representatives of the largest corporations of the gas industry from all over the world.
