Off the coast of Japan there was a new earthquake

Moscow. 22 Nov. INTERFAX.RU — a 5.6 magnitude earthquake occurred in the Pacific ocean off the Eastern coast of Japan, according to the Altai-Sayan branch of the Geophysical service RAS.

According to the operational processing of the Altai-Sayan branch, the epicenter recorded at 00:27 GMT on Tuesday, the earthquake had coordinates 34.92 degrees North latitude and 145.13 degree East longitude and was in 523 km South-East of the Japanese city of Fukushima.

Intensity of concussions in epicentre of the earthquake is assessed as “very strong.”

According to the Altai-Sayan branch of the Geophysical service, the previous more powerful quake occurred at 23:59 GMT on Monday near the coast of Fukushima Prefecture (about 28 km from the coast), had a magnitude of 6.9.

According to the Japanese weather service, the epicenter of the earthquake that occurred at 5:59 local time (23:59 GMT Monday), the magnitude of which was 7.3, was at a depth of 10 kilometers off the coast of Fukushima Prefecture, where a serious earthquake and subsequent tsunami in March 2011 led to the accident at NPP “Fukushima-1”.

It is noted that the impending tsunami threatens nuclear power plants, since the station is frozen, there are still works on liquidation of consequences of the accident.
