President Barack Obama said that during the talks with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin invited him to make progress in the implementation of the Minsk agreements on the Ukraine before ending its term of office in January 2017. He stated this at a press conference following the summit of the Asia-Pacific economic cooperation (APEC) in Peru, the broadcast which was conducted on the YouTube channel of the White house.

“I talked to him [Putin] about the Ukraine and the necessity of fulfilling the Minsk agreements. I urged him to instruct his negotiators to work with us [USA], France, Germany, Ukraine, to try to make this work till the end of my term [as President]” — quoted Obama RIA Novosti.

The US President also said that during the conversation with his Russian counterpart expressed concern over air strikes on Aleppo and encouraged to achieve a humanitarian ceasefire with the subsequent transition to a political settlement in Syria.

While Obama said he hasn’t spoken with Putin about the alleged Russian interference in presidential elections in the United States because they are “already behind”, and the parties focused on “moving forward”.

Earlier, Putin, commenting on the meeting with his American counterpart, said that he had expressed his gratitude for the years of joint work, and also invited him to visit “any time Russia”. According to the President of the Russian Federation, the parties noted that it is always with respect of each other’s positions, despite the fact that the dialogue between them was difficult and “it was difficult, we can say even to work with each other”.

On 20 November, Putin and Obama talked at the beginning of the working session of the APEC summit, which takes place in the Peruvian capital Lima. Their conversation caught in the lenses of cameras, lasted four minutes. In the end they shook hands and took their seats at the table.

It was reported that the presidents discussed the conflicts in Syria and Ukraine.

The summit of the Asia-Pacific economic cooperation (APEC) opened on 19 November and concluded its work on 20 November with the adoption of the final Declaration (in Moscow it’s already Monday, November 21). This summit was for Obama as US President last January 2017 this post is the winning Donald trump.
