Russian companies 5.45 Design and Stabilization have developed a special gyro-stabilized machine for sniper rifles, which soldiers will be able to conduct aimed fire on the move. According to the newspaper “Izvestia”, the new machine is designed for installation on light armored vehicles, buggies, boats and helicopters.

Snipers sometimes have to act in conditions when there is no opportunity to conduct aimed fire from behind a strong pitching or shaking. Under these conditions, soldiers can apply various tricks, but they do not substantially improve accuracy. The new machine is able to neutralize a significant portion of these fluctuations.

The mass of the entire system is 28 pounds. It consists of mounts and gyro-stabilized platform. This platform is mounted several electronic gyroscopes, which measure vibrations along multiple axes. Data from the gyroscopes are used for generating control signals for actuators of the stabilizer.

The system is able to completely neutralize the vibration of the engine or bumps in the road. The gyrostabilized platform equipped with a Picatinny rail on which you can hard mount a sniper rifle. In the future, the developers intend to Refine the platform so that it can be fixed guns with a caliber from 5.45 to 12.7 mm.

Platform with fixed sniper rifle can be rotated 360 degrees horizontally and provides fire vertically from -70 to + 30 degrees. Gyro-stabilized machine can be quickly dismantled with a combat machine and install on another. Laboratory testing of the machine is almost completed and in near future it is planned to be submitted for review to the military.

The development of a gyrostabilized platform for small arms is now under way in the United States. It was called AimLock. Combat system test is planned for next year. The platform features multiple gyroscopes, electronic sight and mount system arms.

While aiming, the soldier should mark the aim, and then turn on the stabilization system. It monitors the displacement of the objective takes into account the data from the gyroscopes and outputs control signals to Electromechanical actuators of the stabilizer. This system can be used for attachment to the torso of a soldier, in combat vehicles or in a helicopter.
