Medvedev called the detention of the speaker of the event “beyond understanding”

Dmitry Medvedev

Prime Minister of Russia Dmitry Medvedev admitted that the detention of the Minister of economic development Alexei Ulyukayev is beyond his comprehension. About it the Prime Minister said on Tuesday, November 15, reports TASS.

“This is a major event for the authorities and for the government. What happened is beyond my comprehension,” — said Medvedev at the meeting of the faction “United Russia”.

He stressed that none of the authorities — neither the governors nor deputies, nor Ministers, who had committed corruption crimes, have no immunity. It is an indisputable conclusion that follows from the case speaker, “it is very important for our country taking into account its traditions,” added the Prime Minister.

Earlier Tuesday, the court sent the speaker under house arrest. According to investigators, the Minister illegally demanded from the representative of the company “Rosneft” as a bribe money for the legitimate issuance of a positive conclusion and evaluation in respect of the acquisition of state-owned shares “Bashneft”. Thus, the defendant made threats to create further obstacles for companies, using the office powers.

Itself the speaker considers his detention a provocation. “Alexey Valentinovich has not pleaded guilty. Believes that what happened yesterday at office “Rosneft”, is a provocation against the state officials,” — said the lawyer Timofei Gridnev.
