Meanwhile, the Russian office of Amnesty International asked the Department of city property of Moscow to confirm the fact of payment of rent for the office, said the representative office Director Sergei Nikitin.

According to him, after learning that the office of the organization is sealed, Amnesty International made sure that all accounts, including October, were paid. “To make sure that the other party, the Department of property, shares our understanding, our accountant went to the so-called reconciliation. The reconciliation of the Department’s staff have confirmed the fact that we have all paid,” — said the Agency interlocutor.

He added that a request to provide a certificate stating that all bills are paid, the Department replied that the contract was terminated, and can be obtained only in the Central office structure.

“We filed an order, we were told that the answer is in three weeks. As you know, two weeks later, our things can be made”, — said Nikitin, calling the situation with the change of locks and the sealing of the office of “deceit.”

According to him, the staff of Amnesty International continue to work from home.
