The Central election Commission of Russia will remotely monitor the elections of the President of the United States. This was stated on Wednesday, 2 November, the Chairman of the CEC of Russia, Ella Pamfilova, reports TASS.

“I would like to deny, to disavow the statement of my colleague at the CEC Likhachev Vasily Nikolaevich that the CEC is supposedly going to lead some kind of remote monitoring of elections in the United States,” she said at the seminar of the Organization for security and cooperation in Europe (OSCE), which took place in Vienna.

According to Pamfilova, the refusal to participate in the observation will be another proof that Russia is not trying to influence American elections.

“We have not had a direct invitation from our partners in the United States [to monitor the elections], so we did not respond,” — said the CEC Chairman. She stressed that the Russian side always invites us experts. “We have most observers is from the United States through the OSCE — 63” — said Pamfilova.

1 November the head of the Duma Committee on international Affairs Leonid Slutsky has questioned the fact that Washington invited Russian parliamentarians to monitor the elections. “I’m not sure that such an invitation would be, given the demonization of the image of Russia in the informational and political space of the USA”, — said the Deputy.

In September, American authorities refused to allow Russian diplomats have the right to observe the presidential election, threatening them with criminal prosecution if it appears at the polling stations. The CEC said that Russia will focus on remote monitoring of voting in the United States.

The United States presidential election will be held on 8 November. The main contenders for this position are Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton and Republican Donald trump.
