The President of Russia Vladimir Putin in Day of national unity laid flowers to the monument to Minin and Pozharsky erected on the red square. On Friday, November 4, RIA Novosti reported.

Together with the head of state in ceremony in particular, was attended by the Patriarch of Moscow and all Russia Kirill, Chairman of the Council of Muftis of Russia Ravil Gainutdin, Supreme mufti, Chairman of the Central spiritual administration of Muslims of Russia Talgat Tadzhuddin, chief Rabbi of Russia Berel Lazar, the head of the Russian Orthodox old believers ‘ Church Cornelius, the ordinary of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of the Mother of God in Moscow, Paolo Pezzi, the head of the Buddhist traditional Sangha (community) of Russia XXIV Khambo Lama Damba ayusheev.

Also the event was attended by activists of Russian youth movements and representatives of public national and cultural organizations.

As reported TASS, November 4, Putin and Patriarch Kirill will also unveil a monument to Prince Vladimir on Borovitskaya square, will visit the exhibition-forum “Orthodox Russia”, visiting the exhibition “Russia — My story. 1945-2016” and hand over in the Kremlin state awards — the order of Friendship and medals of Pushkin. They will be awarded to foreign citizens for special merits in strengthening peace, friendship, cooperation and mutual understanding between peoples.

National unity day celebrated in Russia on 4 November since 2005. The history of the holiday connected with the victory of the people’s militia over the poles in 1612, when under the leadership of Minin and Pozharsky was taken to China town and liberated the Kremlin.
