“According to preliminary information, farewell to Oleg Popov will be held on Monday,” — said Reznichenko.
Subsequently, the Director of the state circus Dmitry Ivanov said that on Thursday, November 3, at 10:00 will gather the Commission, which will decide where will take place farewell with Popov in Moscow or Rostov circus. The Commission will be attended by the artist’s wife. Ivanov also confirmed that Popov will be buried in Germany, reports “RIA Novosti”.
Popov had died the previous day in Rostov-on-don, on 87-m to year of life.
Oleg Popov was born in 1930 in the village of Vyrubova in the Moscow region. In 1951 he began working in the Saratov circus, and then became a clown under the leadership of Mikhail Rumyantsev is a circus performer who worked under the pseudonym of a Pencil. The audience called Popov for his red wig Sunny the clown. In 1980-ies he worked in the circus, near the metro station Universitet, Moscow. Since 1991, Popov worked in Germany in one of the local circuses.
